I've got no space in my head.

Tunes in my head: Funky Bitch by Phish
Atmosphere: New mobile, woot.

As humans, we are too preoccupied with technology.

I just got a new phone (a Nokia N97, for you technophiles) and am utterly fascinated with it.

Why?

I dunno. I always said I'd be against the whole proliferation of technology, the obsession with phones.

And now I myself am getting sucked endlessly into it.

As a whole, we are generally fascinated with shiny things.

But why? Is it just for being new?

What happens after a few weeks? Will the new Ferrari get tossed in place of the old, beaten down Audi?

One minute, you say "technology is bad" and then you switch to "shiny useless tech baubles are bad". The first is false (one can never have too much technology!) , the second likely true (but given the number of fools about, it's far too profitable a business to ever stop).

Proliferation of technology is not in itself a bad thing, though the current directions of consumer goods (which I assume you're referring to here) - lots of wastefulness, forced obsolescence, ridonkulous pricing, various other evils, is rather depressing. Unavoidable unless we all convert to communism/etc. And of course, the largest evil of all - those fucking shiny glossy reflective widescreen monitors. THESE ARE THE SCOURGE OF THE EARTH.

Also, the E series is better than the N series.
